Bonjour,
J'ai à commenter la note de l'auteur sur son oeuvre
Merci de me corriger.
Voici ce que j'ai écrit:
the causes which led Martel to write its novel :

after several failures in so much writer, Yan Martel tests the need to change of environment. He thinks that the fact of travel elsewhere will give itself him the inspiraration necessary to write his book about Portugal of years 39.
He arrives to India,he is seduced by the Indien people: their manner of speaking and their kindness: for exemple when he speaks with an Indian by imitating their language: he pronounces: banboozle whereas the good word is " embobiner", he laugh. When speaking about this anecdote, he wants to show us how much this people is sympathetic and at the same time he wants to enjoy us.
In Bombay, whereas he writes his book, he realizes that he does not hold the good story to attract the public. He decides to leave to visit the south of India.it's in Pondichery, old French counter , of which there remain the structure of the buildings, houses, and the name of street in french, qu' he will make a meeting which will change completely his life.

II partie

Then he sits down in a coffee: The Indian Coffee House,he starts a conversation with an old Indian. When this one learns that Martel is a writer,he proposes to him to tell him a history which, he says , will make him believe in God.Martel fears to deal with member of a sect. But this one reassures him when he says to him that it's is a true story which begins in Pondichery
he indicates to him the name of the hero of the story: Patel and says to him that this one lives now in Canada. Then he tells him the story. Later, when he returns to Canada, Martel makes contact with Patel, by phone, then he organizes a meeting to have more breakdown about his adventure. To have more information on the circumstances of the drama, Martel contacts civils servant of embassade of Japan and receives from Ministry for Transport, a magnetic band

Now is born this splendid novel which holds of the Odyssey, of the fairy tale and the initiatory course

Salut, Rowenna.

Quel plaisir de recevoir de tes nouvelles !
******************************************
Part I

T
he causes which led Martel to write his novel:

After several failures as a writer, Yan Martel feels the need for a change of environment. He thinks traveling elsewhere will lend itself to the inspiration he needs to write his book about the Portugal of 1939.

He arrives in India and is seduced by the Indian people: their manner of speaking and their kindness. For example, when he speaks with an Indian he attempts to imitate their language. He says "bamboozle", whereas the correct word is "hoodwink". Then he laughs. When speaking about this anecdote, he wants to show us how nice these people are; and at the same time, he wants to amuse us.

In Bombay, while he works on his book, he realizes that his story isn't good enough to attract the public's interest. He decides to leave for a visit to the south of India. He chooses a place called Pondichery, a former French trading post where one can still see what remains of buildings and houses constructed by the French, as well as the name of a street in French. It's there he will have an encounter which will change completely his life.

Part II

So he sits down in a café called "The Indian Coffee House", and he strikes up a conversation with an old Indian. When this man learns that Martel is a writer, he offers to tell him a story which he says will make him believe in God. Martel is hesitant because he doesn't want to get involved with a sect. But the old man reassures him by telling him that it's a true story which begins in Pondichery. He gives him the name of the hero of the story, which is Patel and tells him that Patel now lives in Canada. Then he tells him the story.

Later, when he returns to Canada, Martel contacts Patel by phone. Then he arranges a meeting with him to get more details about this man's adventure. To get more information on the circumstances of the drama, Martel contacts the Japanese embassy and receives a tape recording from the Ministry of Transport.

And this is where Martel's splendid novel takes shape, and Patel's odyssey unfolds with all the fascination of a fairy tale and pathway to initiation. .

You're welcome, Rowenna. Bonne note. Je n'ai attaché la photo que pour illustrer ton petit commentaire.

Par accident, j'ai omis l'article ici : ... the Ministry of Transport.
