Voilà, Mimi. Travail terminé.
These days fast foods are on the increase. You can find them on every street whether it's a large restaurant chain like McDonalds or small businesses. They all have one thing in common: bad food, the kind that leads to obesity and several other illnesses. How can one explain this unprecedented increase of fast foods? That's what we will attempt to do by explaining the cause of the phenomenal success of fast foods.
It's interesting to know why so many people are attracted to these restaurants which nevertheless have serious repercussions on their health. The popularity of fast food can be explained by the speed of service. You can be served in less than 5 minutes, which is the opposite of food served in other restaurants or even at home where you have to prepare everything yourself. And you're often among friends. That's especially important for young people who enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the fast-food restaurant. What's more, young people prefer steak and fries to soup and vegetables. That's why these restaurants attract them. It's also important to note that food in these restaurants costs very little. To add to their success and popularity with the even younger set, you can usually find recreational areas for kids or even small gifts offered in childrens' menus. Even little kids insist that their parents take them to this kind of place. You can include working people too. All of these factors, in effect, can explain why fast food cooking is so popular among young people of all ages.
Personally, I don't go to fast food places very often. On the average, I eat fast food about once a month, often because someone has invited me. I love fries with mayonnaise and the hamburgers are great, but I'm aware of the unhealthy nature of this type of food. That's why when I do go, I try to get a salad instead of two orders of fries; just as some of my friends do. I think when I'm older, I'll be going to fast food restaurants less and less. It's only because of peer pressure or personal desire that I go there to begin with. Furthermore, the food served in these places is for teenagers as far as I'm concerned. If it were up to me, I'd never go.
So, I prefer fast food, but only on occasion. It's imperative that we be careful when eating this type of food because it's responsible for obesity. In America, illnesses related to poor eating habits are among the main causes of death. There's no doubt these foods are enjoying increasing popularity worldwide, but to what end?
