July 12th Yellowknife
Yesterday we woke up early in the morning so that we could enjoy the nice weather all day long.
It was the best wildlife day§ Wile we were canoeing, we first saw two moose .They raised their heads out of the water, plants hanging out of their months, and stared at us. They didn’t seem very excited to see us! We also saw at least two bald eagles, a grizzly in the distance, and the best sighting of the day-a lynx which was standing motionless near the river. It looked like an extremely large cat. It saw us, but it didn’t move. We all stopped paddling. We watched the lynx and it watched us, until we rounded a bend and couldn’t see it any more.
July 30th Bay of Fundy
When my ,parents are not making me learn about history, they’re making me hike. And when they’re not making me hike, they’re making me eat fish, I mean real fish with head, tail, and…eyes! Ugh.
This morning we went to Grand Pré, a historic site where the French-speaking Acadians used to live. Mum told us about the tragic events that took place there. In 1755, the British burnt their villages, and the Acadians were scattered far and wide. Friends and families never saw each other again, ever. Rachel got furious about it. I told her to simmer down, it all happened a million years ago …well…250 years ago. “It’s still not right!”, she yelled . Phew! Take cover when Rachel gets upset.
Thank God, tomorrow there will be absolutely no history, no hiking , no fish…we’re going whale watching! Wow!!!
